Fans of "Supernatural" TV show to gather in Parsippany

Fans of "Supernatural," the TV show about Sam and Dean Winchester's battle against the forces of hell, may soon be in heaven — for three days anyway — because a tribute to the The CW networks's demon-hunting series is coming to Parsippany this weekend.

Creation Entertainment's The Salute to Supernatural Convention will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Hilton Parsippany Hotel.

"It's an experience where people who have a common interest can get together," said Creation Entertainment Publicist Monica Gillen.

The convention will feature both souvenirs and celebrities, said Gary Berman, co-founder of Creation Entertainment.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase show memorabilia from T-shirts and hats, to mugs and photos, said Berman. The main event includes cast members making appearances and leading question and answer sessions. There will also be opportunities for autographs, as well as photos.

Richard Speight Jr. and Alona Tal will appear on Friday. Travis Wester and Aldis Hodge will take the stage on Saturday. Rob Benedict, Samantha Smith, and Katherine Boecher will be featured at Saturday's presentation, and Misha Collins will appear both Saturday and Sunday.

The celebrity guests will not be the only ones in the spotlight as fans can participate in costume parties and trivia contests. Fan-made music videos will also be shown.

"It's a party atmosphere," said Berman. "It's just a nice overall feeling people get when they come."

Ticket prices are $20 for Friday, and $30 for Saturday and Sunday. Fans can order tickets in advance or purchase them at the door. Tickets for children 12 and under are $15.

Show times are 12 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.

Singer/songwriter Steve Carlson will be appearing on Saturday, and will be holding a concert at 9 p.m. Friday. Separate tickets for the concert are $20.

"Supernatural" is entering its sixth season, which will begin airing on Sept. 24.

"It's a show that has a really passionate following among fans," said Berman. "To get a six-year run on television is a lot for these days. I think they've done a great job with that."
